Stephen Curry’s minutes to watch

Curry had 23 minutes left with 9:21 left in the third quarter. If he plays the full season, he’s playing 32 minutes. The Warriors like him in the 36-38 range. But that’s over. Playing 40, a comfortable number for Steve Kerr in the playoffs, he had to come back at 8 minutes into the fourth quarter. But did they really let him restart for Game 4?For the rest of the game, he played 44 minutes — well above Kerr’s comfort zone

Klay Thompson made his first 3 in Game 2, will he catch fire as the game goes on?

Mark that 3 with Klay Thompson. For the first time, the Warriors were able to let him relax on a transition pick. So far, Boston has been able to take them away and force him to the 3-point line. Will this make him hot?

Both teams are struggling to make two-pointers

A truly intriguing subplot of Game 2 was the struggles of both teams within two-point range. After a poor 6-for-15 starter, the Warriors went 12-for-25 in the paint while the Celtics went 7-for-24, including a dreadful 1-for-9 from mid-range. . There are a range of explanations for this, but the biggest one is that both teams provide great help and rim protection. It’s important to note that the shot to seal the paint made the three look better, and both teams shot well from long range, resulting in both teams scoring about 1 point per possession overall in the first half. .

Another note based on my experience playing at the Chase Center: Don’t put too much emphasis on which shots are classified as restricted areas (three feet around the rim) in games in this arena. For some reason, the people who record shot attempts at Chase Center always keep them farther from the rim than other venues. So Boston’s only three listed shots at the rim aren’t as important as other situations.

Warriors key to slowing down Horford

Interesting Warriors defensive stats, Horford had 26 points on 6-of-8 3-pointers in the last game, but tonight he had zero points and zero attempts.

Two big non-calling bets could change the course of the game

Part of the nervousness in the first half was due to two major missed calls: Tatum’s potential third foul when he knocked down Otto Porter at 3:40 of the second quarter, leading to a Derrick White 3-pointer, and The referee denied access to Draymond Green and Jaylen Brown at halftime, saving Green from ejection.

Curry could play a big role in the upcoming games

Stephen Curry had 20 minutes in the first half. It felt like he was heading towards the 42 range. May rest in the first 120 seconds of the fourth quarter. Unless Poole has a calmer performance in the third quarter, the second half could go further.

Draymond Green walks on thin ice

Draymond Green was teetering on the brink of ejection, but not yet crossed. But he lived there for most of his career. A brush with Jaylen Brown isn’t called a double tech. Draymond, who already had a technique tonight, is still there.

Bad offense translates to bad defense

Boston’s offense continues to make its defense difficult with forced shots and turnovers. When the Celtics make the right decisions and balance the floor well, they win. When they don’t, Golden State is in business. That’s the essence of this series.

Derrick White has become a key player on both ends of Boston’s offense and defense

On paper, Derrick White probably doesn’t “deserve” a first-round pick and future picks at the deadline. He’s a fringe starter in the NBA, players at that level, they’re getting paid fairly, but not below market value, which usually doesn’t come at that price.

However, the value is in the eyes of the beholder. White provides the Celtics with enough extra playmaking and ball-handling to keep their three perimeter mainstays Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart on every break. Get an extra minute or two on the bench. He’s a smart, solid defender. Now that he’s shooting, he’s the equivalent of a two-way backcourt — you rarely have too many of those guys.

Warriors’ transition defense has twists and turns

The Warriors’ defensive rotation/transition defense is either non-existent or late. The Celtics are getting big shots from the trio.

Jordan Poole is trying to keep things running smoothly

Jordan Poole is now 3-for-12 from the field with five turnovers in the opening portion of the series. The Celtics got into him on the perimeter and bothered him at the rim. Rob Williams, White and Theis all blocked his shots. He is gone.

Warriors’ supporting cast offers little

The Warriors get very little from anyone else, including their usual scorer. Klay Thompson made 1 of 7 shots. Andrew Wiggins was 1 for 5. Jordan Poole made 1 of 5 shots. Many of those turnovers were in the paint, especially Thompson and Wiggins.

The Celtics’ aggression against Curry allowed others to dare to beat them.No one on the Warriors is remotely ready for the challenge
