Last update time:
Everyone was wondering if there would be Diablo Immortal controller support, especially since Diablo Immortal was released on mobile devices early, bringing the popular fantasy RPG to smartphones and tablets for the first time. The fact that the game will be available on mobile and PC opens up a whole new world of possibilities for the series, which previously only supported keyboards and controllers on console or PC.
So, does Diablo Immortal support controllers?
Players will also be happy to hear that they no longer have to wait to determine if Diablo Immortal controller support is included – the answer is 100% yes!
We’re sure you still have a lot of questions about controller support in Diablo Immortal. Fortunately, we’re here to answer all your questions.
You don’t have to use a controller to enjoy the game thanks to the excellent keyboard and mouse controls on your PC. There are also intuitive touchscreen controls for mobile devices, so there are plenty of ways to experience Diablo Immortal’s controls.
Why does Diablo Immortal need controller support?
Discussions about Diablo Immortal’s controller support have been frequent and ongoing throughout the beta, as the community clearly wants to be able to use a controller while playing the game.
It’s easy to see why. This is especially true for the mobile version of Diablo Immortal, as controller support becomes increasingly important as more AAA-style experiences migrate to mobile devices like Apex Legends Mobile and Valorant Mobile.
In fact, touchscreen controls have come a long way in recent years when it comes to playing games, but it still feels less than ideal.
Diablo Immortal is no exception. While the mouse and keyboard have long been the go-to method for Diablo fans, Diablo 3 has thrived on consoles thanks to the excellent conversion of the game’s basic controls to gamepad controllers.
While we’re sure some die-hard Diablo fans want mouse and keyboard support for their phones, that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon. Controller support seems to be the only viable option for mobile devices right now!
Can you play Diablo Immortal with a controller?
Short version: yes. In Diablo Immortal, you can connect the controller to your phone or PC.
In fact, both platforms of Diablo Immortal have added controller support after some previous Diablo games didn’t support it.
Therefore, you will be able to play Diablo on your computer or mobile device using an external gamepad. Plus, if you’re gaming on these platforms, the controls can be easily remapped to your liking and playstyle. This means that Diablo Immortal’s controls can be fine-tuned to your personal preferences, making the experience more immersive.
However, Diablo Immortal’s official website makes a (very!) bold statement: There will be no input lag when playing with controllers on these devices. Find out below if there is any truth to this claim!

What to do when Diablo Immortal Controller doesn’t work on PC or mobile?
Despite Blizzard’s bold claim above that Diablo controller support is lag-free, input lag has plagued many Diablo players.
We are part of that group too! Connecting an Xbox controller to an iPhone 11 playing Diablo Immortal causes a lot of lag and a lot of disappointment.
This is especially true for those trying to use an Xbox controller on a PC. So we’ve put together an easy-to-follow guide on how to fix PC controller lag in Diablo Immortal.
Do you have controller input lag in Diablo Immortal? Can you fix the lag?
So far, Diablo Immortal players and some other players using the Xbox Wireless Controller have reported significant input lag.
As of the publication of this guide, game developer Blizzard has not directly addressed PC controller lag in Diablo.
Diablo Immortal’s wireless controller input lag has been an issue for many players, and while we don’t have a complete solution, we do have a few that worked for some.
Unfortunately, we don’t have any tips for mobile users experiencing delays, but we’ll keep you posted when we find out more.
How to fix controller input lag in Diablo Immortal on PC
We found some excellent advice from Blizzard Entertainment official forums user Shttalkin who followed these steps to fix input lag on their Diablo Immortal controller. After trying this, their problem was completely solved:
- Connect the controller using Bluetooth.
- Fire up Diablo Immortal and see what happens. If the controller is not connected properly, continue to the next step.
- Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
- Go to the controller page.
- When prompted, select Controller as your input device. This is a replacement for “keyboard”.
After following these steps, if your controller still has noticeable input lag, you can wait for an official patch from Blizzard to fix the problem, or try several other tips found by savvy Redditors as potential workarounds.
A workaround to get the controller to work in Diablo Immortal includes disabling Vsync and enabling the unlimited frame rate option. Here are the steps involved for both solutions:

The Diablo series of games is available for the first time on iOS and Android mobile devices.
- For iOS devices, devices running at least iOS 11 will be supported, including iPhone 6s or newer, iPad and iPod Touch.
- For Android devices, users report that the list of compatible Android phones varies widely, making them more challenging to use. Before installing a game, be sure to check the game’s system requirements to make sure you can run it.
In addition to the mobile version, Diablo Immortal will also be available on PC. Compared to the mobile version, the PC version was still in open beta at launch.
Players connecting the Battle.net client on PC will be able to seamlessly access their progress from the mobile version. Also, despite being beta and not as polished as the mobile version, playing the game on PC won’t have any negative impact on your progress.
It’s time to end our support for Diablo Immortal’s controllers at launch!
Remember, this guide will be updated if the game’s official support list includes new controllers.
