Modern Warfare was released on October 25, 2019, and its sequel followed almost the same week of the year.
Take a look at these three previous Call of Duty games that represent a new connected experience for Call of Duty and Cross-Progress and Warzone, with Call of Duty games released in October and November throughout the franchise’s history – The only exception is the standalone Modern Warfare remake released in June/July 2017.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 trailer
After its global launch on June 8, we finally have a proper Modern Warfare 2 trailer to talk about. You can watch this trailer below:
As you can see, the game starts three years after the events of Modern Warfare, and features familiar faces from previous games. After a U.S. airstrike accidentally kills a foreign general, the team has to jump between locations in an attempt to disrupt the enemy’s attack.
Before this trailer, we only had a brief live-action trailer, which announced that Modern Warfare 2 was revealed on June 8.
We also got a sneak peek at the gameplay with the Summer Game Fest world premiere. You can check it out below.
Modern Warfare 2 Beta
There will be a Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 beta, but it’s coming to PlayStation consoles first. Players will need to pre-order the game to gain access, but there’s no confirmation on when the beta period will begin.
We’ll update this guide if we hear more.
modern warfare 2 missions
We only know of four Modern Warfare 2 missions so far: Night War, Wet Jobs, Towers, and Vehicle-based missions.
In Nightwar, you’ll take control of Soap as you raid terrorist safehouses at night; in Wet Work, you’ll master the game’s stealth mechanics on land and sea as Gaz; in Tower, you’ll need to use a rope—first a head or Feet – Get off a giant skyscraper to clear it.
All three missions give players the freedom to choose how they play, giving way to the spirit in which Infinity Ward created CoD 2.0.
In unnamed vehicle missions, you’ll be able to shoot out of windows, commandeer other vehicles, and basically do what you want. Obviously you can drive any vehicle you want in Modern Warfare 2, so this car might be worth your attention.
Modern Warfare 2 Features
We’re getting a ton of new features in Modern Warfare 2 from swimming, new movement mechanics, and more. But maybe it’s the movement mechanics that will change the minds of most players.
Infinity War brings sliding and diving back to the game, which should change the way players enter the firefight while bringing combat to the water’s edge. Swimming will now be a key part of Modern Warfare moving forward – you’ll be able to ADS and shoot while you’re submerged.
You can also jump in Call of Duty by grabbing a ledge and choosing to peek or not. According to Infinity Ward, this is called a ledge suspension, and it will give players more options during their gameplay.
The Gunsmith system has also been overhauled in Modern Warfare 2, with around 70 attachments available for each weapon. This will give players full control over guns and playstyles, and help with changing metadata. Players can also adjust specific weapon attachments via the tweak screen – but only if you’ve reached a certain level for that weapon.
Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Mode
Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer is a big part of the game, and while all the recent news is in the game’s extensive campaign, there’s a lot to get excited about if you’re a multiplayer fan.
Games like Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, Team Deathmatch and more all return, but along with two new modes: Knockout and Prisoner Rescue.
Knockout is a 6v6 mode, but you only get one life per round, albeit with resurrections. Players will need to fight for a package, and whoever controls it in the end will win the game.
In Prisoner Rescue, two teams will be tasked with protecting or rescuing hostages – similar to Rainbow Six: Siege – and you’ll be able to break down walls and doors to do so.
modern warfare 2 battlefield upgrade
So far, Infinity Ward has revealed four field upgrades in Modern Warfare. these are:
- tactical camera
- drill charge
- inflatable bait
All four will be available in multiplayer at launch.
