2022 Travelers Championship odds, venues: Surprising PGA picks, predictions from models at 8 majors

The 2022 Travelers Championship is one of the better non-prime areas of the season. Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Scottie Scheffler and Patrick Cantley are just some of the big names in the 2022 Travelers Championship field. Spieth won the event in 2017, while world No. 1 Scheffler finished with a T-2 at the U.S. Open. They’ll both be favorites when the 2022 Travelers Championship takes place Thursday morning at TPC River Heights in Cromwell, Connecticut.

McIlroy is a favorite at 10-1 for Caesars Sportsbook’s 2022 Travelers Championship odds. Scheffler was right behind at 11-1 and Thomas was right next on the PGA odds board at 12-1. Cantlay (16-1) and Sam Burns (18-1) are the only other golfers with scores below 20-1. Before making any 2022 Travelers Championship picks, be sure to check out the golf predictions and prediction leaderboards from SportsLine’s proven computer models.

SportsLine’s proprietary model, created by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been in demand since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, its best bet has been over $9,600 since then, winning game after game.

McClure’s models include Justin Thomas’ best bet to win the 2022 PGA Championship. That bet hit +1600, and McClure’s best bet returned nearly $800 throughout the tournament. At the 2022 Masters, McClure’s role model is Scottie Scheffler’s first career major title before the weekend.

Additionally, McClure’s top bet includes a straight win for Colin Morikawa at the 2021 Open, even though he’s listed as a 40-1 long shot. The scene of Jon Rahm (10-1) winning his first career major at the 2021 U.S. Open is also modeled. Going into the weekend, Ram was two shots behind the lead, but the model still thought he was the winner.

The same pattern also locks in eight majors heading into the weekend. Anyone who followed it saw huge returns.

Now that the 2022 Travelers Championship (see StubHub for tickets) is locked, SportsLine simulated the race 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head over to SportsLine now to see projected leaderboards.

2022 Travelers Championship Top Predictions

A big surprise for the model’s call at the 2022 Travelers Championship: Patrick Cantley, seven-time PGA Tour champion and one of Las Vegas’ favorites, stumbled this week and failed to finish in the top five . Cantlay has been hot in recent weeks, with a tie for third or better in three of his past five races, including a victory at the Zurich Classic.

However, Cantlay didn’t fare well at the Travelers Championship of his career, where he failed to finish in the top 10 in his last four races at the event. Plus, Cantlay came into the week with 87th in putt percentage (39.58) and 69th in green percentage (66.67), which doesn’t bode well for his chances of winning. He’s not a strong option to win it all, and has a better value in the 2022 Travelers Championship field.

Another surprise: Seamus Power, a 40-1 long shot, strong in the title run. Ball’s chances of winning it all are much better than his odds suggest, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a big payday.

To do well at TPC River Highlands, players need to be accurate with their close-range shots, and few can do it better than Power. In fact, the 35-year-old is ninth in green percentage (69.98) for this week’s tournament. He ranks 19th in birdie average (4.11), 20th in putts (128.7) and 24th in scoring average (70.021). These impressive numbers, combined with his high odds, make Power a strong value pick for this week’s 2022 Travelers Championship betting.
