2022 Travelers Championship odds, venue: Surprising PGA picks, predictions from model dubbed 8 majors

The Travelers Championship tends to draw an impressive field, but the 2022 edition is especially strong. Hartford is just a short drive from Brookline, home of last weekend’s U.S. Open, so five of the world’s top 10 players will compete in the 2022 Travelers Championship. Rory McIlroy is a favorite at 10-1 in Caesars Sportsbook’s latest 2022 Travelers Championship odds after finishing in the top 10 at the U.S. Open. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is listed at 11-1, while PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas is 12-1.

Scheffler has earned more this season than any golfer in any PGA Tour season and nearly won another major last weekend. Does he deserve your back in the 2022 Travelers Championship? Before making any 2022 Travelers Championship picks, be sure to check out the golf predictions and prediction leaderboards from SportsLine’s proven computer models.

SportsLine’s proprietary model, created by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been in demand since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, its best bet has been over $9,600 since then, winning game after game.

McClure’s models include Justin Thomas’ best bet to win the 2022 PGA Championship. That bet hit +1600, and McClure’s best bet returned nearly $800 in the entire tournament. At the 2022 Masters, McClure’s role model is Scottie Scheffler’s first career major title before the weekend.

Additionally, McClure’s top bet includes a straight win for Colin Morikawa at the 2021 Open, even though he’s listed as a 40-1 long shot. The scene of Jon Rahm (10-1) winning his first career major at the 2021 U.S. Open is also modeled. Going into the weekend, Rumbai was two shots behind the lead, but the model still thought he was the winner.

The same pattern locks in eight majors heading into the weekend. Anyone who followed it saw huge returns.

Now that the 2022 Travelers Championship (see StubHub for tickets) is locked, SportsLine simulated the race 10,000 times, with surprising results. Head over to SportsLine now to see projected leaderboards.

2022 Travelers Championship Top Predictions

A big surprise for the model’s call at the 2022 Travelers Championship: Cantlay, a seven-time PGA Tour champion and one of Las Vegas’ favorites, stumbled this week and failed to finish in the top five. Cantlay has been hot in recent weeks, with a tie for third or better in three of his past five races, including a victory at the Zurich Classic.

However, Cantlay didn’t fare well at the Travelers Championship of his career, where he failed to finish in the top 10 in his last four races at the event. Plus, Cantlay came into the week with 87th in putt percentage (39.58) and 69th in green percentage (66.67), which doesn’t bode well for his chances of winning. He’s not a strong option to win it all, and has a better value in the 2022 Travelers Championship field.

Another surprise: Keegan Bradley, a 35-1 long shot, excelled for the title. His chances of winning it all are much better than his odds would suggest, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.

Bradley had an incredible week as a hometown hero at the U.S. Open, birdieing four of his final 12 holes on Sunday to finish at 1 under. He was five shots behind Matthew Fitzpatrick, his best finish at the U.S. Open since 2014. Cheers sprang up as Bradley walked off the final green on Sunday, energizing him as he entered the Travelers.

He’s been in great form lately, finishing in the top 10 three times in a row at the Valerod State Open, the Zurich Classic and the Wells Fargo Championship earlier this season. Bradley has advanced to seven straight games and provides value as a sleeper this weekend. He’s ready to fight for his first win of the season, so the SportsLine model likes him at 35-1.

How to Make Your 2022 Travelers Championship Picks

The model also targets three other golfers with odds of 25-1 or better who will be rocking the title and has locked in plenty of long shots above 60-1 in favor of an outright best Bet. Anyone who backs these long shots can hit the ground running. You can only view this model’s 2022 Travelers Championship picks here.
